Farewell 2012

2012 is coming to a close. For me, it has been a year of change and growth. It is good. I would not have suspected a year ago that I would have come so far already with my life and career changes. It seemed last year that I was still treading water. As you can see in my header, water is a wonderful theme in my life. Last year at this time, the water was very deep and I was being held up by it's force - as long as I did not fight it too hard.

But I was not moving forward either. I felt pulled from behind by a relentless force in my head and in my life that kept me from believing in myself. I felt that I was thrashing about, not knowing where to turn nor believing I had much control. I was surviving.

A year later I have wrestled the hold that others have had on me and despite the pain and strength of their forces, I have moved to a new pool of water where I see viewpoints and new possibilities. It looks so much better and I believe that because I have come this far I can go further. 2013 holds many possibilities and more growth. Going to school has been so much more rewarding than I anticipated and I welcome it's challenges.

I will be starting off the new year with Zentangle Classes. Zentangle and practicing daily creativity is a great way to put balance in your life and start a new habit for the new year and Life. Join me.

A time to pause

Summer is almost a reflection in our mirror. Maybe this weekend we will have one more summer extravaganza... and then...

What - the world doesn't stop here? I look forward to fall. In fact in the past - maybe still is - Fall was my favorite time of year. I grew up in Vermont so the sight of the trees in their fall colours, with the crispness in the air; and the bite of a macintosh apple in my mouth - well it spells heaven. I guess that is why I got married in the fall - October, 25 years ago.

With the fall gingerly showing its head around the corner, I look forward to more experiences that keep me intrigued.

I invite you to experience Zentangle with me. The next Zentangle seminar will be held on Sunday, September 23. I will hold a Zentangle 101 class from 10:30 - 12 noon. and then the Zentangle 201 class will be from 1:00 - 3:00p.m.

Come join me for an afternoon of calm creativity to enhance the months of fall.

Hello!

Greetings from the land of immersed in textbooks! Yes, I will be finished with my first term in less than 3 days. Woo Hoo! Really? Well, really, it is fun, and I am looking forward to continue to learn.

In between my assignments and starting the next semester, I thought I would hold a Zentangle class or Two. So if you are interested, email me deb@kopeschny.ca.

Currently I am planning to have a Zentangle 101 class on Sunday, September 9; at 10:30 a.m.; then I will provide light refreshments while  we continue to immerse ourselves in the peaceful and positive vibe of Zentangles. From 1:00- 2:30 I will present more difficult and variations in the Zentangle 201 class.

Each class will be held at my home, 4 Manorwood Rd. in Scarborough; the charge for Zentangle 101 is $35.00 including all supplies; and the Zentangle 201 is $30.00. If you come to both, the charge for the day including light refreshments is $60.

I look forward to hearing from you.

A New Venture

A new venture is on my doorstep. Well, actually 2.

I will be at the Port Perry Quilters Guild Show on May 10 and 11. I will be a vendor at the show, where I will be selling books and Zentangle supplies.  In addition, I will have regular demonstrations in my booth, and will have 30 minute `Make and Take` classes. Come visit me if you are in the area.

The next step in my midlife crisis is upon me. I have received notice of acceptance to the University of Toronto and Seneca College. Decisions, Decisions. Very scary. A positive step in my change but also very anxiety provoking. I know what my heart says... but my brain is so set in comfort and not taking risks... oh oh!

I won`t be changing too quick, and I won`t stop quilting or Zentangling. I will keep you posted.

Monthly Update

The winter is almost over. I'm sad. I missed the snow this year. It seems that we in Toronto will have one last snowfall tonight. I'm looking forward to it.

Amidst the warming months I have had several Zentangle classes with interested people who found me online, as well as a class for Pine River Parents, Pine River Institute students, and friends.  Posted are photos from these past classes.

And wintry photo to leave with you... or is it? The sun is setting over the Pine River.

I will be holding several classes in the next month as listed on the top left. I look forward to sharing this wonderful "pause" with you.

Hello!

Hello, It's been a while. I have been busy thinking about life and my next steps in life. So far I have been living two work worlds. One an office job, and one my creative Zentangles and Quilting. So which world provides me with the most satisfaction and challenge? I am sure you already know the answer because this blog is about creativity. But the question in my mind is, is quilting, drawing and creating enough for me? Simply, No. And so my life is veering off in another direction. My plan is to go back to school and expand my knowledge and experience into the world of therapy - art, creative, speaking, spiritual...

A Boyne Provincial Park Fence - along the Bruce Trail
This will be an immense change in my life, but I am excited about change and challenge. Health is so much more than being free from sickness, having a healthy weight, no chronic diseases... health is about being able to meet your life with a peaceful mind, body and spirit. It is being able to find fulfillment and satisfaction whether you are living in a bachelor apartment, or in a large house...by yourself... with a significant other...

So  onward... Here are a few photos from recent events.
